The Company
Maximoor is a family company that offers professional business services to small and medium sized enterprises in the construction industry. In 2020 we completed the first rollout of the company’s services, which concentrated on securing taxation refunds for subcontractors operating under the construction industry scheme. The company continues to enjoy a great deal of success in the area and this service will remain a fundamental aspect of our business. We are currently in the second phase of the company’s development, which concentrates on providing taxation, payroll, accountancy and corporate services to small and medium sized construction companies. The coronavirus pandemic delayed this launch somewhat, but it is now in fullflow. It provides a balance for our clients and ensures they can outsource (should they wish to do so) their entire accounts and payroll departments. The third and final phase of the company rollout, which will commence next year, will be development of our position as the principal multidisciplinary professional services company in the UK for the construction industry, incorporating taxation, payroll, accounting, recruitment, legal and financial services.
Our Director
Dr Trevor Thomas is both an academic tax lawyer and professional tax accountant. He graduated with an Honours Degree in Law from Warwick University and thereafter, he qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Arthur Andersen Co, subsequently specialising in taxation with Deloitte Touche before setting up his own firm T L Thomas & Co. Trevor has acted professionally in the building industry over many years including serving as the finance director of one of the fastest growing construction companies in the UK, raising venture capital for a regional double glazing company, organising a management buyout of a waste disposal company and refinancing an insulating concrete formwork group. Trevor holds a MA Business Law and a PhD in Revenue Law. He has lectured widely in both an academic and professional capacity.
Trevor’s co-director is his son, Myles Thomas, who is a member of the Association of Tax Technicians. Myles is on the ATT/CTA Pathway of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. Trevor and Myles are supported by a strong team of accounting and administrative professionals.
Apprenticeship Program
At Maximoor, we have hired and trained many apprentices. This includes both school leavers and graduates. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and invigorating workplace as an entrance into accountancy and tax.
We believe that a good apprenticeship program, where paying work is coupled with challenging training and tuition is a great alternative to more traditional routes of entering the job market.
